Hello all!
First, I'd like to introduce myself. I am a 19 year old college student from Norristown, Pennsylvania, an urban suburb outside of Philadelphia. I am an only child and, while I realize it has resulted in me being socially awkward at times, I am sort of thankful for it. I come from a working family and I am also thankful for that as it is one of the factors that have helped me discern what I see and believe about life in many respects.
Now onto the fun: The purpose of this blog.
Simply put, this blog is a place for me to facilitate my views, based on a combination of philosophy, Thoreau-like idealism, and very sincere focus on the idea of the human conscience.
Let me first expressly explain to you what I mean by the conscience, or to be more precise, the exercising of ones conscience. I not only mean the ability to choose what is right from wrong, i.e. our moral conscience, but also the ability to live autonomously in mind, body and action. So in other words, anyone who lives in a way that is truly free.
This blog is not however just for me. I think for there to even be a point to it, it is also for you. I am not here to lecture or to sound as if I am telling you how to live, I am however trying to invoke a conversation, one that may be had within ones self over the moral, political and philosophical issues that are so profoundly evident in today's culture. I am essentially presenting my argument for these issues, and I am hoping that you will take time to convey your thoughts as well, because frankly, the people who truly deserve a word do not get it. Many people working remedial jobs, or better yet working under the table get no opportunity save maybe a dining room table banter session to express their views. If you hate what I am saying, please do not hesitate to say it. All I ask is for some intellectual discretion when and if you comment.
Thank you for at least the look and hopefully this will turn out to be a good blog!
